Barbara Ross was born in St. Louis, Mo. At an early age, the family relocated to Pensacola, Florida where she was educated in the public school system. After high school, she moved to Washington D.C. where she worked as a bank teller for two years.
Barbara started her career in aviation when she was hired by Eastern Airlines in 1979 as a Flight Attendant. She remained with Eastern until they terminated their services in 1989. She then applied to USAirways and was hired in 1989 as a Flight Attendant until 2005.
In 2005, Barbara decided to start her own business so she left the airline, moved back to Pensacola to open an accessory boutique. The boutique only lasted for a few years because of the economy.
Barbara returned to flying with USAirways in 2011 where she is presently based in Charlotte, N.C., flying domestic and international trips. In 2013 USAirways was bought by American Airlines.
She is the co-founder of Aviation Dream Weavers, Inc., a 501c3 non profit organization which along with her husband, they started in 2016.
Presently married to Retired Captain Ozzie Ross and they reside in Griffin, Ga.

Ozzie was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia and is one of five brothers. His life achievements are steeped in family, education and community. He is a graduate of Georgia Perimeter College where he received his Associates Degree in Business Administration. Ozzie is also a proud war veteran having served 4 years in the United States Air Force with 2 of those years spent in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War.
After serving, Ozzie took up interest in flying commercial airliners as a pilot and worked to become one of the first two Black American pilots to be hired on with Atlantic Southeast Airlines (ASA) in 1984. In only a year, he earned the Captain’s seat which is the highest seat in the commercial airline industry. He flew with ASA until 1987 when he transitioned over to US Airways where he started out flying as a First Officer. Many years of diligently working the ranks and proving himself capable, he earned the Captain’s seat once again in 2006. Ozzie was not the one to stop growing so once he obtained the Captain’s seat, he wanted to be sure that he could continue to pass on his knowledge to new pilots so he applied to US Airways flight training department. He was accepted into the program and balanced the rolls of Captain and Line Check Airman for the balance of his time with the company. With more than 25,000 flight hours on record, Ozzie retired from the former US Airways but now American Airlines in 2016.
Ozzie is big on community development as he has spent over 35 years working with the ACE Program alongside his mentor, Mr. Julius J. Alexander. It is from this experience that he
decided to start his organization, Aviation Dream Weavers, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. ADW was formed to help assist minority youths who have an interest in aviation
and aerospace careers gain funding for schooling and special aviation programs.
Ozzie has received numerous awards for his service in the aviation community. In 2016 he was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award, established by President Barack Obama.
He currently serves on two boards; the ACE Program and the Griffin Region College and Career Academy (GRCCA). He and his wife Barbara currently live in the city of Griffin, GA.
